There’s nothing more terrifying than a bad boss.
For most of us, work is great. But we all know that it can feel like a horror movie sometimes. Long hours, low pay and poor treatment are something that no worker should have to put up with.
Community represents members in a wide range of sectors, campaigning for a better working world.
Community is a justice union – that’s why we launched the #KeepUsSafe campaign to tackle assaults on justice sector workers. As the largest prison officers union in the privatised prisons service, we will continue to advocate for our justice sector members at the highest levels, as well as providing direct support in workplaces.
We are a charity union – that’s why we joined the joint body from NCVO and ACEVO to steer the sector on flexible working. It’s also why we speak out on the impacts of increasing demand for services, the cut to Universal Credit and the energy crisis on the third sector.
We are an education union – that’s why we released a report on the Future of Education, providing a solid evidence base as we seek to bridge the gap following the disruption of the pandemic.
We are a steel union – that’s why in the next two weeks we’ll be at COP26 representing steel workers and arguing the case for a just transition and investment in green steel.
We’re a union for the self-employed, for social care workers, for finance workers and so much more. For more information about the sectors we represent, see here.
As well as advocating for workers in each sector, we also provide direct support, with our service centre on hand to help with any workplace issues and partner with lawyers across the UK to be able to offer our members free or reduced rate legal services.
If you’re wondering if a trade union is for you, or want to know more about how to join a union, do get in touch with us.
