Community is the leading union in the UK steel and metals industry representing thousands of steelworkers across the country, notably in British Steel and Tata Steel.
We have unparalleled steel industry knowledge and expertise and provide a first class service for those working in the steel industry, in both blue and white collar roles across steelworks, foundries and manufacturers.
Our specialist steel officers, trained representatives and regional teams are all dedicated to fighting for you and fighting for Britain’s steel and metals industry. Common issues we represent our steel members for includes pay, hours worked, redundancy and health and safety.
We lead negotiations with all the major steel employers. In addition to these companies, Community represents thousands of people at smaller steel and wire producers, foundries and stockholders.
Community is proud to have been the steelworkers’ union for over 100 years. We have fought for our industry through good times and bad, and are passionate about its future. That’s why we are a founding union of the ‘Britain, we need our steel’ campaign. You can find out more about the campaign and get involved here.
We also have a steel and wire sector committee, formed of steelworkers from across Britain who are working together to secure a prosperous future for our country’s steel industry and all the people who work in it. You can learn more about them here.
