Community has signed a recognition agreement with peacebuilding charity Conciliation Resources to represent its UK employees and those working abroad on UK contracts. The partnership means that Community will negotiate pay, terms and conditions as well as being consulted on working practices.
Welcoming the new agreement, Jonathan Cohen, Executive Director of Conciliation Resources, said:
“The people who make up Conciliation Resources, as well as those we work with and for, are at the heart of our work and staff wellbeing is a top priority. We have explored union recognition for many years, and are pleased to see this agreement come to fruition. It is good to be able to work with Community whose values are well aligned with our own.”
Roy Rickhuss, General Secretary of Community, said:
“We look forward to representing the team at Conciliation Resources. They carry out such important work in stopping violent conflict around the globe. Providing a collective voice for the charity’s employees will facilitate good employee relations while ensuring that employees continue to be fairly recognised and rewarded for their role in the success of the charity. Signing this agreement is the start of a partnership that will benefit both the charity and its employees. We welcome Conciliation Resources’ openness to working with a modern trade union.”
