Ending veteran homelessness

In the UK today, there are around 271,000 people without a home.

Homelessness comes in many different forms; some people are sleeping rough on the streets while others may be staying on friends’ sofas or staying in a hostel long-term. Of those without a home, up to 4,000 are men and women who served this country as a member of our armed forces, only to return and be left without a home.

At Community, we’re passionate about ending veteran homelessness because we believe that every person has the right to a place they can call home, and we need your help. Homeless veterans are unique for several reasons, including:

  • Finding it difficult to engage with and trust people with no military background.
  • Feeling they’re unable to share their unique experiences, and situations that only members of the armed forces encounter.
  • Being excluded from normal housing schemes or provisions because their behaviour is atypical.

Find out more about the work we are doing below to combat veteran homelessness in the UK and get our armed service veterans off the streets.
