Supporting the fight against coronavirus in India

As many who have watched the news lately will no doubt be aware, the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic in India has grown increasingly out of control. With hospitals unable to meet the demand for treatment and case numbers continuing to climb to record levels, the country’s healthcare system has effectively collapsed under the weight of the virus.

People are desperate for medical care, with the poorest communities in India suffering the hardest. It is increasingly clear that it is a race against time to save as many people as possible.

Community is proud to be supporting in that fight by donating to the British Asian Trust’s Oxygen For India Emergency Appeal. Our donation will pay for one high-flow oxygen concentrator, which will help 550 of the most seriously ill patients.

Roy Rickhuss CBE, General Secretary at Community said:

“Like many people, we have all been heartbroken watching the news reports of the increasingly dire Coronavirus situation in India. We wanted to find any way in which we could support those currently less fortunate than ourselves and help in the fight against the second wave of the pandemic. We are incredibly proud to be making this donation, and hope it forms a small part of a turning of the tide against the virus in India”
