There will be a range of activities throughout the week for you to take part in. Some will take place in the conference hall, such as voting on motions and policy, hearing about Community's work and meeting colleagues, and others outside of the hall itself such as fringes on a number of different topics and training sessions. Throughout the week, we will also be holding various evening events, which will take place around Brighton, such as the welcome reception and Gala Dinner.
Community is organising transport for all delegates. You will hear about this in due course if you haven't already.
If you have any queries about transport to or from conference, please contact your regional team.
For the majority of conference, you are asked to wear smart casual attire such as blouses, polo shirts, buttoned shirts, trousers, skirts/dresses, and smart but practical footwear.
For the Gala Dinner, you should wear smart dinner attire. This includes buttoned shirts, jackets, suits, ties, smart trousers, formal dresses, blouses, skirts, and smart shoes or boots.
On the first day of conference, upon entrance to the conference hall, Community staff will provide you with your conference pack.
You can find details of the conference agenda in the conference guide, and the motions are listed in the motions document. Details about the conference events will be emailed out to the delegation ahead of, and on each day of conference.
Registration will take place in the Durham room, which is located in the Hilton’s conference centre. Registration will open at 2pm on the Monday and close at 5pm. At registration, all delegates will pick up their conference credentials (which you should bring for entry to the Monday evening drinks reception), printed copies of the conference report and motions document, and your conference bag. The registration desk will also be open for the hour before conference starts on the Tuesday.
The Hilton will operate a group check-in system – whereby you can simply pick up an envelope with your key card when your room is ready. However, please note that check in is not guaranteed before 4pm. If you expect to arrive before this time, please let your regional team know as soon as possible as the Hilton will be able to prioritise early check-ins. If we don’t know your arrival time, it is likely you will have to wait until 4pm to check in.
Yes - the Hilton will operate a free left luggage facility on the Monday – those waiting may wish to take the opportunity to complete their conference registration and pick up their conference packs in the Durham room.
All of our conference events are taking place within 15 minutes walk of the Hilton, and it is expected most delegates will walk between venues. However for those requiring assistance, taxis will be provided - we have set up an account with a local taxi firm. Please let your regional team know as soon as possible if you require taxis between venues.
Each delegate will be given a special conference allowance of £15 a day (£75 for the week). This payment will be made on Friday 14 June to reach your account by Tuesday 18 June and should be used to cover any additional expenses at conference.
Should you require reimbursement for further expenses, expense forms will be made available in Brighton from Cherl Siljeur, Head of Finance at Community. Also electronic forms can be requested from Community's Finance Department at finance@community-tu.org
