IWD 2025: Time to Accelerate Action

Over recent years, legislation has been passed or amended to ensure that women have fully recognised rights in the workplace and life in general. This is now firmly fixed in statute.

The time has come for positive steps to be taken to act on that legislation. It is no longer enough to talk about rights for women. What are needed now are the Actions which will show that these rights are not just a placebo for a group making waves.

It is past the time for talk and everyone needs to act to ensure that all women are recognised as competent and valuable in the whole spectrum of society. It is time to recognise the many ways in which women contribute to a range of situations in modern times and ensure that all women have the opportunity to make those contributions.

We, as women, need to stand against ingrained attitudes and fight to have our rights recognised and acted upon. Start with the children in schools and continue through the whole of the education sector to ensure that children begin adult life with positive attitudes to the value of all members contributions to society. We need to do this for us and the generations to come to ensure that our daughters and grand daughters can play a full and active role in future society without the challenges we are still currently facing.

Championing the rights of women in the workplace

At Community, we are proud to be a collective voice for women workers across the UK and campaign on issues that directly impact them. Our Equalities team are committed to this cause and fight to maintain and extend vital rights and policy across all UK workplaces that benefit women everywhere.
