Everyone at Community was saddened to learn of the death of former Labour Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott today.
Community General Secretary Roy Rickhuss CBE said:
“John Prescott was a powerful force in the labour movement, and a friend to all unions. He played a vital role in putting the Labour Party back on the path to power after a generation in opposition, and went on to put his good trade union values and principles at the heart of a truly transformative Labour government.
“His life and legacy will continue to inspire working-class and trade union voices to enter the field of politics.
“On behalf of everyone at Community, I want to send my condolences to his family, and to everyone who knew and loved him.”
