Community secures learning agreement with the NSPCC

Community Trade Union staff and NSPCC staff signing a Union Learning Agreement.

Community Union and the NSPCC have signed a learning agreement covering NSPCC sites across the UK. This agreement strengthens our joint efforts to establish a workplace learning culture at the NSPCC while collaborating on learning gaps and opportunities for our members. NSPCC employees can now access learning for free, or at a reduced cost through Community Learn at work.

This learning agreement will help to develop the confidence and skills of all NSPCC employees while also addressing their training needs at work.

The agreement was formally signed on behalf of Community by the Union’s Trustee, Dougie Fairbairn and Lyndsey Watson, Senior Organisational Development Manager, on behalf of NSPCC.

Dougie Fairbairn, Community Union Trustee said:

“We now need to ensure this learning agreement is put into practice, and delivers learning for our members in NSPCC”.

Lyndsey Watson, Senior Organisational Development Manager at the NSPCC said:

‘‘Investing in learning and development equips our people to deliver our ambitious strategy to protect children now and in the future. This learning agreement provides more opportunities for our staff to benefit from, supporting their development journey at the NSPCC in order to realise their full potential.”

Both partners mission is to make learners more employable and thrive in their chosen career, and together, we will work to secure as well as deliver learning and training opportunities for NSPCC employees through our Union Learning Reps.

What is a learning agreement?

A learning agreement is a collective agreement between a recognised trade union and an employer which specifies how both will collaborate on learning issues in the workplace. Learning agreements have a significant impact on Community’s ability to deliver a learning agenda, allows Union Learning Reps more facility time to undertake their role, provides equal access to training opportunities for employees and much more.
