It is with much sadness that Community heard today of Wendy Sinclair’s decision that she will be standing down from her role as Chief Inspector of Prisons as of August 2024.
Community’s Regional Secretary for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Steve Farrell, commented:
“I am disappointed to hear of Wendy’s pending departure. I have had the privilege of knowing Wendy for the best part of 25 years throughout her many prominent roles across the Justice Estate, and I have always found her interactions to be of the highest professionalism and integrity.
“Wendy, whilst in her role as Chief Inspector of Prisons in Scotland, along with her Inspectorate team, have always delivered compelling reports that have led to considerations of how the Scottish Prison Estate needs to evolve and continually become relevant, whilst remaining responsible for the secure custody of prisoners.
“Furthermore, and most importantly to our trade union, she always had staff welfare at the forefront of her reports. That was something which Community members always commented on and respected.
“Finally, I would like to wish Wendy every success in the whatever she decides to do next.”
