Today, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has published the report Liberty Steel and the Future of the UK Steel Industry.
Alasdair McDiarmid, Operations Director at Community the steelworkers’ union, said:
“This report is timely because government must decide whether it wants a steel industry in this country. The industry can have a bright future but we need government to back us; as the Committee says this means delivering a long-overdue steel sector deal and taking urgent action on exorbitant energy prices. Community welcomes the report, and how government responds is an important test of their commitment to British jobs and industrial communities.”
