Members of Community’s Faith Workers’ Branch held a session of remembrance in their recent meeting ahead of Workers Memorial Day 2025.
Members of the growing branch – which includes members from the Christian, Jewish and Islamic faith traditions – kept a silence and lit a candle to commemorate lives lost at work.
Community member and Baptist minister Revd Phil Jump has compiled an inter-faith prayer of remembrance to commemorate Workers Memorial Day, which falls each year on April 28th.
We pause to recognise
All those whose work and calling
Requires of them risk and sacrifice.
And particularly we remember
Those whose lives have been lost through pursuit of their daily work.
May those who bear the pain of their loss
Find comfort and strength
Through knowing that they are not forgotten.
And as we hold this light in their memory
May we also accept our responsibility
To make every aspect of work
As safe and protected as we can.
AMEN
