Community’s new Third Sector Steering Committee held its inaugural meeting in London today.
At the meeting, representatives from the sector discussed some of the ongoing issues affecting members in charity, voluntary and faith work settings, and constructive dialogue was held on the potential benefits of a sector-wide survey, which is set to be launched soon.
Community’s National Secretary for London and the South East and Third Sector lead, David Weeks, said:
“Community’s membership within the third sector – including in charities, not-for-profits, voluntary organisations, and among faith workers – is fast-growing. As a result, we have established a new steering group which will meet regularly to discuss feedback from our branches on the main issues affecting our membership, and identify campaigning priorities.
“Workers in the Third Sector need a strong voice in their corner, and Community will provide that.”
Join the union for Third Sector workers
Community has a rapidly growing membership within the third sector across charities, not-for-profits, faith and voluntary organisations.
Our approach aims to foster good relationships between organisations and their employees, and to work in partnership with good employers to improve working practices across the sector. It is this approach that has drawn many people to us.
