Commenting on the return to schools, Helen Osgood, National Officer for Community Union’s Voice Community education and early years section, said:
“We are pleased that the measures put in places throughout schools are being maintained as we move into the new term.
“It will be a difficult time for schools to manage with staff shortages expected in many settings. We are calling on the Department of Education to make clear in its guidance what steps schools can take to ensure safe staffing levels are maintained and what actions they can take if this is not possible.
“We’re also calling for air filters, such as those recently announced in England, to be made available to schools across the country.”
