Community is pleased to announce the signing of a new recognition agreement at XPO Thurrock in Essex.
The agreement will cover all staff working in the Payroll, Engineering Administration, Reconciliation and Administrative Assistance Operations departments at the Titan Truck Park site in West Thurrock.
Elections will shortly be held for two local union representatives, with one each covering the day and night shifts respectively.
David Weeks, Community’s National Secretary for London and the South East, said:
“We are pleased to have secured this recognition agreement with XPO following detailed dialogue with the company over recent weeks and months. Our dedicated workforce on site in Thurrock across different departments of the business will now benefit from the security that formal union recognition brings. We look forward to continuing to build on our constructive relationship with XPO for the benefit of our members.”
Paul Warren, Community’s National Secretary for the Logistics sector, said:
“The needs and concerns of our members across the logistics sector are of the upmost importance to Community. Securing this formal recognition agreement with XPO Thurrock means that we can put these issues directly to the company, to the mutual benefit of employee and employer. With Community, logistics sector workers have a strong voice in their corner.”
Katie Allan, Senior Organiser at Community, said:
“We’re delighted to have got this recognition agreement over the line. Union recognition will provide our members at Thurrock with a stronger collective voice in negotiations on pay and working conditions, and with that, enhanced job security.”
Recognition agreements
A recognition agreement allows a union to bargain on behalf of employees on things like pay and terms and conditions. It can also make the union stronger in the workplace as union reps are entitled to time off to complete their duties. Find out more about what securing recognition with Community means for you today.
