Regulatory matters & compliance support

If you are a regulated professional working across sectors such as education, healthcare, law, social care, or transportation, you most likely work under a regulator. However, with emerging new technologies, changes in law and regulations, and ever evolving business needs, there is an ever-increasing chance of risks and issues arising at work under regulators which in turn puts you and your job at risk. That is where we come in.

As a member of Community, you have access to tailored and specialised support if you face legal action by your approved regulator.

Why choose Community for support with your regulatory matters?

As a modern trade union that represents workers across every area of the UK economy, we understand how each regulator operates, and how this affects our members across each sector we represent.

There are many reasons why you should choose Community to support you with your regulatory matters, including:

  • This service is 100% free to Community members
  • We support you throughout the entire regulatory referral process, investigation and any hearings that take place for any matter which we consider having reasonable prospects of success
  • We represent members across every sector of the UK economy, so have decades of knowledge with dealing with different UK regulatory bodies across different sectors

How do I get support with a regulatory matter?

If you are experiencing issues with your regulatory body, or have been accused of misconduct at work, you should in the first instance, speak to your Branch Secretary (if you are in a recognised Community branch) or our Members Service Centre on 0800 389 6332, at help@community-tu.org, or by filling out this form. Please note that Community is unable to assist with any issue that pre-exists your membership with us.

Your regulatory matter will then be passed onto a Community Regional Officer or representative who will assist you in completing an application for legal assistance, and a relevant legal representative will be appointed to your case.

The legal officer shall then look at your matter and decide if it is more likely to succeed than not. If a matter does not enjoy reasonable prospects because on balance, it is less likely to be successful and has less than a 51% chance of success, the legal officer will advise you.
