Community signs recognition agreement with GXO B&Q CDC

We are proud to announce that we have signed a formal recognition agreement with GXO B&Q CDC, meaning GXO now formally recognise Community to represent, consult and negotiate on behalf of our members working across their CDC network.

National Secretary for Logistics, Paul Warren said:

“This landmark agreement is a massive step forward for CDC Drivers and Customer Service Delivery Technicians across GXO B&Q. By securing formal recognition, we have ensured that our members finally have a powerful, unified voice where it matters most, at the negotiating table.

We look forward to working constructively with GXO to build a safer, fairer and more prosperous workplace for everyone at these nine vital depots.”

Who is covered by this recognition agreement?

This recognition agreement specifically covers all CDC Drivers and Customer Service Delivery Technicians based at the following nine customer distribution centres across the country:

  • Cambuslang
  • Gateshead
  • Doncaster
  • Preston
  • Brook
  • Bristol
  • Harlow
  • Southampton (South Hampton)
  • Exeter

What this agreement means for Community members at GXO B&Q CDC

With this recognition agreement in place, Community is officially recognised to negotiate for our members at GXO B&Q CDC on behalf of pay and conditions, staffing structures, job grading, holidays, terms, health and safety, employment policy, redundancies, TUPE and much more.

In addition, Community Representatives will be appointed to represent our members in the North, and in the South to champion our members’ workplace rights. As part of this recognition agreement, these reps will be entitled to paid time off to undertake their union duties as well as have access to workplace facilities and equipment to carry out their role.

GXO have also committed to meeting with Community representatives every two months to discuss issues affecting our members and get updates directly from the business to share with our members.

This agreement is built on mutual respect. Community is already recognised at several GXO sites, and this further agreement reflects GXO’s commitment to working with us to ensure its workforce is supported, represented and heard.

When workers organise, we win. Every single worker deserves a powerful, unified voice at the negotiating table. This can only happen through recognition. If you want to secure better pay, fairer terms and a safer workplace, Community is ready to stand with you.
