Community partners with Industrial Christian Fellowship

We are delighted to announce that we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Industrial Christian Fellowship.

The Industrial Christian Fellowship has a long and distinguished history dating back over a century. One of their most famous members was Rev Studdert Kennedy, more commonly known as ‘Woodbine Willie’, the World War I chaplain who famously rescued soldiers under fire.

These days, the Industrial Christian Fellowship is dedicated to supporting Christians at work whilst retaining its interest in social justice. Their Honorary President is the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Rev Chris Wilson, Branch Secretary for Community Faith Workers’ Branch, says:

“I am delighted that Community has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Industrial Christian Fellowship. Partnership working is what we are about and the Industrial Christian Fellowship has a fine history – reaching back to the early 20th century – of supporting and resourcing people of faith in the workplace. I look forward to working with them in areas of shared concern”.

Rev Dr John Weaver from the Industrial Christian Fellowship, says:

“Industrial Christian Fellowship are delighted to enter a partnership with Community as laid out in the agreed memorandum of understanding.

We believe that our own emphases match those of Community in many ways. We seek to help our members and others to live out their faith at their work, and to act as a prophetic and challenging resource point for the churches in their ministry to all those at work. We are concerned with justice issues and with dignity at work, and seek to offer biblical and theological reflection in support of our fundamental aims.”
We are immensely excited and look forward to a long and successful partnership together. With our shared commitment to the common good, we look forward to supporting our members and campaigning for a better working world that benefits all.
