Community and TREC set up Community Hub

Community Union and The Race and Equality Centre (TREC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a working partnership. Both organisations will now work together to improve access to employment and further study opportunities, with a focus raising awareness of Health & Safety in the workplace and improved confidence in the practical use of English.

TREC is an organisation based in Leicester and has been existence in the city since 1967. They work to reduce inequalities in Leicestershire, empower communities and offer access to learning opportunities.

The signing of this MOU means, we will now work together to establish a ‘Community Hub’ at the TREC offices, to enhance access and provision for TREC clientele to Community Union services and benefits.

Paul McKenna, National Secretary for Community Union, welcomed the opportunity to work with the TREC and looks forward to working in partnership to provide support on health and safety in the workplace and the importance of trade unions.

Dr Iris Lightfoote, Chief Executive Officer of The Race Equality Centre, said:

“We are delighted to be working in conjunction with the Community trade union to bring this course to as many workers and potential workers as possible.”
