ACEL Results

The Scottish Government has today released new statistics on school pupils’ Achievement of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) Levels (ACEL) in reading, writing, listening & talking and numeracy.

The statistics show that for P1, P4 and P7 pupils combined, the proportion achieving the expected levels in 2024-25 is the highest to date for literacy and the equal highest for numeracy. For S3 pupils, the proportions achieving third level or better in literacy and numeracy are the highest to date. You can find the data in full here.

Community’s Operations Director and National Secretary for Education and Early Years Helen Osgood said:

“The latest ACEL results reflect not only the hard work of Scotland’s young people, but the unwavering dedication of our teachers. Community members, commitment, creativity, and care continue to lift learners across the country, and this achievement is a testament to their professionalism and passion.

“Congratulations on achieving the highest figure on record. Thank you for everything you do – every day, in every classroom inspiring Scotland’s future.”
