Community has secured a 14.7% pay increase for overseas escort staff working for Mitie Care & Custody at Gatwick, bringing the minimum pay for a Detention Custody Officer (DCO) to £30,000 pa.
David Weeks, Community’s Regional Secretary for London and the South, said:
“We were pleased to be able to recommend the offer to our members.
“In the current uncertain economic climate, this substantial increase reflects the high-profile and specialist nature of the overseas escort work, and provides stability for members.
“We were also able to negotiate an earlier start date of 1 March, rather than the usual 1 May date linked to contract commencement.
“I would like to thank our Reps and all those involved in achieving this pay award.”
