Community has welcomed the Welsh Labour Government’s commitment to supporting women’s health, with a dedicated women’s health hub now open in every health board area across Wales. The new hubs – which at this stage are either online or in-person – are designed to improve access to specialist care and deliver menopause, contraception and menstrual health services in the community.
The new hubs form part of the Welsh Government’s broader Women’s Health Plan, published in December 2024, which has led to an extensive programme of training for GPS and healthcare workers about endometriosis and other women’s health conditions across Wales.
This week the Welsh Government has also launched a new national website focusing on women’s health – https://womenshealth.nhs.wales/
Community’s Head of Equalities Jennifer Dean said:
“Our members across Wales will benefit from these new women’s health hubs, which will make much-needed support more accessible and streamlined.
“At Community we are clear that women’s health is a workplace issue, and a trade union issue. That is why we will shortly be launching a new national campaign focusing on women’s health in the workplace. The great work that the Welsh Labour Government is doing will further raise awareness and support our goal of initiating better conversations around menstrual and fertility health at work, making it easier for people to reach out for help.”
