Warmth for Wyre Forest

Through our regional charity fund, Community helps members support local causes that matter to their communities.

Community President Dean Cox recently presented a cheque for £200 to Wyre Forest Regional Hub Volunteer, Ruth Olding. Dean works with Wyre Forest housing planners and volunteers a room at his pub in Cookley, Worcestershire, as a warm space for the local community.

In addition to this donation, Community union volunteers donated board games to play in the warm space, which is a place for people to meet others in their local community and build friendships in their local area.

Dean is a lifelong Cookley resident and has served as a parish councillor in the village. He had this to say about the scheme:

“Cookley is a great village community where most people have known each other for years, but at the moment times are tough and people need support.

“When Wyre Forest council approached me about using the pub as a warm space, I was very keen to help out.”
