West of England Mayoral Authority and Community to deliver skills training

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is working in partnership with Community Union to deliver the Mayoral Priority Skills Fund.

The fund provides flexible grant funding to meet current priority skills gaps in the South-West region, which covers Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and Bath & North East Somerset.

The main purpose of this project is to improve employees’ learning and career prospects through union-led initiatives. These schemes will be facilitated by Skills Connect.

The project will focus on:

· Skills Needs Analysis: Conducting comprehensive research to identify skills gaps within recognised workplaces.

· Recruitment of Union Learning Reps (ULR): ULR’s will promote learning in the workplace and engage with individuals to support career advancement and referrals to training programs, skills, and employability aspects.

· Workplace-Based Learning and support: Engaging with employers and delivering high-quality training and support programs within recognized workplaces including redundancy support.

· Inclusive Participation: Offering access to project benefits to all individuals.

As part of the project, the Mayoral Combined Authority and Community will be delivering a range of courses, workshops and career support in the form of employment skills (including career coaching and advice); English and Maths classes; digital and technology courses; redundancy support; and much more.
