Community was in attendance at last weekend’s TUC Young Workers Conference in London.
Our brilliant group of delegates – Elle-Mae Marsh, Anthony Lewis, Morgan Irvine, Snezana Stepanova, Annabel Austin and Katie Smith – represented Community at at a series of workshops and events, and moved and seconded motions on the conference floor. Our delegates gave speeches on issues including the need for more affordable housing, the growth of the far-right and the need for fair pay for all ages.
“It was a really good weekend with a great group. It was inspiring so be in a room with so many passionate young people who really care about the Trade Union movement and protecting workers for generations to come.”
“I had a great experience at TUC Young Workers Conference 2025. Having never been at conference before it was a bit daunting but the delegation made me feel really welcome. It was fantastic to see the conference in flow, watching passionate young people learn about motions and sharing their thoughts on them. Equally amazing was seeing the lifelong friendships being made and grown across the different unions. It’s never been more important to provide opportunities outside their day to day to young people and the conference provides a safe space for young people to develop their skills while making a difference through the motions they proposed. It was a fantastic experience.”
“I had an amazing time at the young workers conference. It was my first time at the conference and being part of the committee, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It was so nice being around like-minded young workers who are all there for the same reason.”
“I had a great time at the conference, surrounded by an amazing group of people full of inspiring ideas and unique perspectives. This conference gave a great opportunity to connect, learn and have fun, leaving me feeling motivated and hopeful about the future.”
“I really enjoyed my experience at my first ever conference. Being part of a wider and varied community of like-minded young workers manifested a deep sense of camaraderie and solidarity, which can be hard to feel as a self-employed worker. Both the union speakers and visitors offered meaningful insights into hard-hitting topics, and workshops provided the opportunity to develop actionable points to take forward in the workplace. It was an invaluable experience I am much looking forward to participating in again.”
