The AA signs Community’s Women’s Reproductive Health Charter

We are excited to announce that the Automobile Association (AA) has signed our Women’s Reproductive Health Charter, through our Supporting Her Together campaign. By signing this charter, the AA has highlighted their commitment to workplace equality, and recognition that women’s reproductive health at the AA is being taken seriously.

Head of Equalities at Community, Jennifer Dean said:

“The AA’s pledge is a significant step towards creating more inclusive workplaces, showing a clear commitment to recognising and supporting reproductive health at work. By helping to break down stigma and ensuring meaningful support is embedded across the organisation, the AA is demonstrating how employers can create environments where employees feel valued, supported and able to thrive at work. This is an important example of how workplace equality and employee wellbeing can go hand in hand.”

Following the signing of the charter, the Head of Employee Relations at the AA said:

“At the AA, we want to create a workplace where people can bring their whole selves to work and feel supported at every stage of their lives. Signing the Women’s Reproductive Health Charter is an important part of that commitment.

Reproductive health is an important part of occupational health, inclusion and wellbeing, and we recognise that issues such as menstruation, menopause, fertility treatment, pregnancy, pregnancy loss and other reproductive health experiences can have a significant impact on people’s lives and their experience at work.

As Head of Employee Relations, I am particularly committed to making sure that support is reflected in how we manage people, our policies and our everyday culture. That means creating an environment where people can talk openly about reproductive health without embarrassment or stigma, access the support and reasonable flexibility they need, and never feel that their health has to come at the expense of their career.

The Charter gives us a framework to turn that commitment into action – through supportive policies, flexible working, education and awareness, appropriate workplace adjustments, confidentiality and meaningful involvement of our colleagues and representatives.

We also recognise that reproductive health is not an issue affecting women alone, and our approach must be inclusive of everyone who may experience reproductive health-related issues.

Signing the Charter is therefore not just a statement of intent. It is a commitment to keep listening, learning and improving, and to make sure reproductive health is treated with the dignity, respect and understanding it deserves across the AA.”

Community has a long-standing industrial relationship with the AA, and we are excited to continue working with them to improve the working lives of women at the company. Employers who adopt this charter will help to create work environments where women feel they can thrive, not just survive.
