Spring Statement

Responding to the Chancellor’s Spring Statement, Community Assistant General Secretary Alasdair McDiarmid said:

“Faced with the unenviable task of putting right 14 years of Tory failure whilst navigating the turbulence of an increasingly uncertain world, the Labour government has risen to the challenge. Whilst there is still much more to do, the economic indicators show that the outlook is improving, as highlighted by the Chancellor in her statement today.

“We welcome the Chancellor’s continued commitment to investing in infrastructure – supporting our members in steel and manfacturing – and tackling regional inequalities which have held back our economy for far too long.”
