Responding to the Government’s announcement of a sick pay guarantee for more than a million of the lowest-paid workers in the UK, Community Assistant General Secretary Alasdair McDiarmid said:
“This is an incredibly encouraging first step.
“Extending statutory sick pay to the lowest-paid workers ensures that the most vulnerable won’t have to choose between their health and their job.
“While this move will make a real difference, there is still much more to be done. We look forward to hearing about the next steps Labour has planned to continue uplifting the workers who need it most.”
