The Bank of England Governor, on his half a million-pound annual salary, has suggested workers shouldn’t ask for a pay rise.
When budgets for the poorest workers are already stretched to the limit, that means choosing between feeding your children and feeding yourself. It means choosing between heating and eating.
National insurance rises, skyrocketing energy bills and rising prices are hitting everyone hard and people up and down the country on low and middle incomes are struggling.
That’s why we won’t be taking Andrew Bailey’s advice. We’ll be doing everything we can to secure meaningful pay rises for our members to help them through these tough times.
