On 4 July 2023, Community: the union for education professionals is holding a special free webinar on Ofsted and education and early years inspections, following the tragic death of head teacher Ruth Perry.
The event will:
- give an update on what is happening with Ofsted in the light of recent tragic events;
- update members on Community’s position on Ofsted, inspection, preparation etc; and
- enable members to share their experiences of Ofsted.
We will also hold a couple of polls during the meeting to gather statistics on members’ experiences that we can use in our dealings with the inspectorate and government ministers.
Community:
- has been calling for the inspection system to be reformed;
- believes that inspection – in its current form – is not fit for purpose;
- believes that inspection should work for the education and early years community and provide the necessary improvement advice;
- wants to see an end to one-word outcomes;
- believes that Ofsted should be supportive not punitive – inspections should be constructive not destructive; and
- will continue to work with the government and the inspectorate to achieve these goals.
