New Steel Procurement Note Welcomed

A spokesperson for Community said:

“We welcome this new public procurement policy note, which reiterates the Government’s commitment to our steel industry as a key strategic sector for national security.

“This note will help Government departments improve steel procurement pipelines, ensuring domestic capabilities are identified and used as suppliers where possible, building on the ambitions of the Steel Strategy unveiled earlier this year.

“This Labour Government continues to demonstrate that it is firmly on the side of our steelworkers and recognises UK-made steel is not just a commodity but a national asset. We hope this new note will put pressure on organisations across the public and private sectors to procure more steel produced by British workers.”
