Mayor to launch London AI taskforce

Community has welcomed the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s new AI mission, including the creation of a new London taskforce on AI and the future of work, and the commissioning of free AI skills training for Londoners.

In his annual Mansion House speech, the Mayor warned that London would be ‘at the sharpest edge of change’ related to the growth of AI due to its status as a hub for finance, professional services sector and the creative industries.

Community’s National Secretary for the Finance and Professional Services sector, Caroline Taylor, said:

“These are important proposals from the Mayor of London on the challenges and opportunities arising from AI, including for finance and professional service workers in London and beyond.

“We will be campaigning to ensure that responsible AI makes work more efficient, flexible and rewarding for our members in the finance sector.”

Community will soon be launching a dedicated national campaign focusing on the impact of AI on our members in the financial services sector.
