Labour Behind the Label launch new resource

As part of the In Your Community initiative, our National Officer for Light Industries Paul McKenna and Project Coordinator Hiba Bayoumi attended a launch event for Labour Behind the Label’s latest Workers Rights resource.

The long-running campaign group continues to raise awareness and campaign to improve conditions and empower workers in the garment industry.

Kaenat Issufo, Community Engagement Lead at Labour Behind the Label, said:

“I want to highlight the importance of the Workers’ Rights booklet for garment workers in Leicester. Many of these workers face unique challenges and often have limited access to clear information about their rights. This booklet is an essential resource to help them understand and stand up for their rights in the workplace.

“Offering the booklet in multiple languages is especially crucial, as many garment workers in Leicester are non-native English speakers. A bilingual version ensures accessibility, empowering workers to engage fully with the information and act on it effectively. By making this knowledge widely available, we can help create a fairer, safer, and more informed working environment.”
