Google-Community Partnership – an update

Since partnering with Google on the AI Works project last year, we have provided AI skills training to over 500 Community members in person and online. These skills will help our members in their careers, as well as in their everyday lives. 

The AI Works training consists of an introduction to AI, including how it works and utilising generative tools in the workplace. The training focuses on different AI resources that can be used for specific tasks and helps participants master the art of crafting effective prompts.  

The partnership has taken Google on a whistle-stop tour across the UK to Community’s offices, including Earls Barton in Northamptonshire, Sheffield and our support centre in Port Talbot, South Wales. Google have supported our members in the use of AI to help improve the CVs and career prospects of our members affected by Tata’s decarbonisation plans. The Google courses delivered to learners to date in Port Talbot have received high praise for the quality of the training materials and also the expertise, friendly and supportive delivery. 

In addition to the Google one-to-one sessions, Community has access to 1,500 Google Certificate Scholarships for members. Google certificates are online, self-paced learning programmes designed to help people learn job-ready skills in high-growth, high-demand areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics, project management, and digital marketing. The Google Certificate Scholarships programme will help our members to upskill and train in an area they are passionate about, whilst support some of the vital new jobs the UK economy will need over the years to come.
