Community is proud to support The Race and Equality Centre’s (TREC) vital work in Leicester through a donation of essential office supplies for their ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for Safety Signs Program.
This initiative is a powerful example of how targeted community support can directly translate into increased workplace safety, individual empowerment and stronger community well-being.
Understanding the ESOL for Safety Signs Program
The ESOL for Safety Signs Program tackles a crucial barrier for many residents with a limited understanding of English to understand vital safety signage.
The course is specifically designed to teach individuals how to confidently read, interpret and act upon various safety signs they encounter, particularly in a workplace environment.
The TREC delivers these lessons through fun and friendly classes, making the learning experience accessible and engaging. By equipping participants with this knowledge, the program helps individuals build a safer, more confident and independent life.
This understanding is key to reducing accidents and ensuring compliance with essential safety procedures.
While the dedicated TREC team provides the expert teaching, the effective running of the program relies on fundamental resources. We stepped in to provide these resources through our In Your Community (IYC) initiative.
The stationary donates ensure that participants have the necessary tools to take notes and keep their learning materials organised, allowing them to focus entirely on the learning provided by TREC.
The TREC team expressed their gratitude and excitement upon receiving the materials.
