Community partners with the National Centre for Domestic Violence

Community is proud to announce a new partnership with the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV).

This important affiliation will ensure our members and reps have access to specialist resources, guidance, and training that can help create safer workplaces and communities. By working with the NCDV, we can better equip our members to recognise the signs of abuse, offer meaningful support, and signpost members to expert services when needed.

Domestic abuse is a workplace issue as well as a societal one – and as a union, we believe every member has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported both inside and outside of work. This partnership builds on our wider work around equality, wellbeing, and fairness at work.

Jennifer Dean, Head of Equalities said:

“We are proud to work in partnership with the NCDV, as we equip our members and reps with vital skills, resources and education around domestic abuse. We want all workplaces to be safer spaces for everyone.”

Sharon Bryan, NCDV Head of Partnerships & Development said:

“Trade unions can play a significant role in promoting and overseeing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), especially when it comes to labour rights, worker well-being and fair labour practices. Domestic abuse and violence not only affects the personal lives of employees but also impacts workplace productivity and morale.  It is a Health & Safety concern for everyone. We are delighted that Community have affiliated to NCDV and we look forward to working together.”

Through this partnership, Community and the NCDV will work together to raise awareness, provide education, and empower reps and members to be part of the solution in tackling domestic abuse.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, support is available. Visit NCDV’s website here or contact their helpline here for urgent advice.
