Community was pleased to welcome NSEAD, the National Society for Education in Art and Design, to our offices in Earls Barton.
NSEAD General Secretary Michele Gregson met with Community General Secretary Roy Rickhuss and Assistant General Secretary Alasdair McDiarmid as well as the Chair of the Education Sector Committee Teresa Bottomley and our NEC member, Chris Wilson. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and sign a Memorandum of Understanding, and to discuss our mutual values and shared vision of an Education Sector that values its workforce, as well as how we can work together for the greater good.
NSEAD is an exciting organisation which provides professional advice on all aspects of employment in art, craft and design education. It is also a trade union which, like Community, puts its members at the front and centre of everything that they do.
Our memorandum of understanding contains a shared vision for working together, in areas where we can amplify each other’s voices, to benefit members from both organisations through support and collaboration – elevating the work that we do.
Michele Gregson spoke about the importance of providing professional support to enable members to thrive in the workplace, and to advocate for the work they do as educators.
Roy Rickhuss spoke with enthusiasm about our joint working with the Joint Union Asbestos Committee on the vital mission to eliminate RAAC in our schools and colleges up and down the country.
Chris Wilson NEC member for Community said:
“I am delighted to see Educational Professionals from both Community and NSEAD working together for the benefit of all. Our two unions’ shared values of putting Education first will strengthen our joint endeavours now and in the future.”
This is an exciting development for both Community and NSEAD and all parties are looking forward to working together and ensuring that Educators’ voices are heard loud and clear at all levels.
