Community donates to suicide prevention charity

Community has made a £350 donation to a Glasgow-based charity providing peer support and suicide prevention services to men.

Men Matter Scotland (MMS), which has been supported through the union’s regional charity fund, aims to improve men’s mental health by offering counselling and access to therapy.

AA Roadside Services Branch Reps for Scotland and Northern Ireland, David Birrell and Ryan Mack, presented a cheque to Paul Brogan, Employability Operations Office at MMS, at the charity’s base in Drumchapel.

The donation will go towards the charity’s Live In The Light event on Friday May 15th, an annual gathering aimed at breaking mental health stigma and supporting those in recovery.

The event marks Mental Health Awareness Week, a national campaign that takes place each year in May.

Community prides itself on being a union that is there for its members all the time, not just at work. Through the regional charity fund, we help our members and branches support local causes that matter to their communities.
