Community Contributes to Memorial Fund of PC Blades and PC Clough

Community extends its gratitude to Cleveland Police Federation for accepting our contribution to the memorial fund of police officers Matthew Blades and Tom Clough.

The police officers tragically died in the line of duty on August 22 when a vehicle collided head-on with their marked armed response car on the A66, near Middlesbrough.

The five young men who were in the car they had been pursuing also tragically died.

Our National Secretary for Logistics, Paul Warren, met with Lauren Somerville of Cleveland Police Federation to contribute £10,000 towards the memorial fund.

The federation is supporting the families of the police officers and has raised more than £1 million through a GoFundMe page.

Community’s National Secretary for Logistics, Paul Warren, said:

“It was a real privilege to meet Lauren Somerville of Cleveland Police Federation to present a cheque for £10,000 towards the memorial fund for PC Clough and PC Blades of Cleveland Police who tragically lost their lives in a road traffic collision in August this year.

“To see the fund reach more than £1 million is incredible and is testament to the extraordinary generosity of the organisers, colleagues, friends, and members of the public who have come together in their memory.

“It was simply an honour to be able to make the contribution on behalf of our members to a cause that means so much to so many.”
