As part of the In Your Community initiative, Community union worked with the Faith and Belief Forum on two very different but equally rewarding events.
On the 15th of November, Sati Bhachu (Regional Organiser) & Hiba Bayoumi (Trainee Project Coordinator) had the pleasure of delivering an employment rights session during the interfaith week at Kentish Town Community Centre. It was fantastic to see so many people passionate about understanding their rights and responsibilities as well as religion and belief in the workplace. The session covered a range of topics, from minimum wage entitlement to discrimination and protected characteristics. The team were able to share their knowledge and experience, while also answering questions and addressing concerns. It was a truly interactive and engaging session.
Later in the month, Community sponsored the London Dangoor Awards presenting the Inspiring Youth Category. The Awards were held by the Faith & Belief Forum with the support of His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith. This is an annual celebration which recognises the work of local organizations that make a positive impact on their communities across London.
Community’s Regional Organiser Sati Bhachu said:
“Working with the Faith & Belief forum has been rewarding and offer valuable insight into local needs. By partnering with them, we can make a positive change and strengthen our community bond.”
Both of these events have reinforced belief in the importance of community engagement. By empowering individuals with knowledge and supporting organizations that make a difference, we can create a big difference. Community looks forward to continuing to make a positive impact working along the Faith and Belief forum and being part of these initiatives.
