This week Community and the British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) met with Jason Wong, Chief Dental Officer for England, to talk about dental nurses and some of the issues affecting them.
The discussion covered a range of topics, including staffing pressures, training and skills, pay, career progression, and the role dental nurses play in dental teams. Community and BADN passed on feedback from dental nurses about their day-to-day work and some of the concerns they have about the profession.
Tiffany Gillies, Community’s Assistant Operations Director, said:
“It was useful to have the opportunity to raise the issues dental nurses are dealing with and to share directly what members are telling us about their work and their priorities.”
Community welcomed the constructive discussion and will continue working with the BADN to ensure that dental nurses’ voices are heard and amplified, and that their concerns are acted upon.
