Commenting on news that secondary schools and colleges in England will operate a staggered return after Christmas, Deborah Lawson, Assistant General Secretary for Community’s Voice education section, said:
“We welcome this pragmatic approach after weeks of asking.
“While we fully support, and have asked for, testing in schools, this late announcement so close to the end of term will cause distress for our members over the Christmas break, and practical difficulties for many schools and families in the new term.
“We are pressing ministers and officials for more details and answers that we can share with our members.”
