Community encourages its Branches to apply to the regional charity fund to help local community causes. The fund recently donated £200 to the Afan Boats Club, at the entrance to Port Talbot docks.
The club has about 250 members, including current and retired Port Talbot steel workers, and sections for children, women and those with disabilities, who take part in fishing and other activities.
The club’s facilities provide easy access to Aberavon beach, which is used for bathing, surfing and jet skiing. Morfa beach and Margam sands also provide excellent summer and winter angling.
The club hosts friendly competitions for members, including the heaviest cod competition on 10 December 2023, as well as fundraising activities to help fund fishing tackle and equipment.
The donation from Community’s regional charity fund has been much appreciated.
