The energy was high at the AA Newcastle site recently as the Community team dropped in to connect with members, both old and new. It was a fantastic day dedicated to answering questions, offering workplace support and celebrating our diverse community.

On-site support, representation and guidance
Community representatives Paul Thomas, Bev Stafford and Sean Mallenby were on hand all day to provide expert advice to our members at the AA on crucial workplace matters, such as sickness and absence support, navigating AA policy, and importantly, how to get help with workplace issues.
They also helped members get online, ensuring they could access the resources and services available to them, while explaining exactly what their membership covers and how it can support them throughout their careers.

Celebrating our LGBTQIA+ community at the AA
During their visit, Paul, Bev and Sean also held a Pride event, underscored by a joint commitment to foster an inclusive workplace. A special thanks to Head of Employee Relations, Caroline Green, alongside Paul Parker, Donna Crawford and Kieren Cart for joining us in solidarity.
Their presence highlighted the powerful collaboration between Community and AA leadership to push forward the organisation’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy in ensuring everyone at the AA feels safe, valued and can be their authentic self at work.
Paul Thomas, Community Branch Secretary at the AA said:
“Events like this remind us of the strength of our community. By listening, supporting, and celebrating our differences, we build a workplace where everyone has a genuine sense of belonging.”
A massive thank you to everyone, both Community members and non-members who stopped by to chat, ask questions, or just say hello. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
