Community, the finance and professional trade union, has longstanding recognition and a strong working partnership with financial services giant Zurich. Over the years Zurich has been an employer constantly at the forefront when it comes to improving its employee benefits and support. In recent weeks the company has launched a new employee benefit for those experiencing serious health issues related to the coronavirus.
This new benefit entitles employees, should they or a member of their immediate family be hospitalised due to the coronavirus, a recurring payment for every day that the employee or their family member needs to stay in hospital up to as much as £2,800.
Caroline Taylor, National Secretary for Community’s finance and professional sector said:
“During these stressful and unprecedented times it is good to see there are employers stepping up and providing their workers with the support and recognition they deserve.
“This certainly represents best practice and we hope that this example is followed by other businesses, to recognise the critical role and importance of the workers who are keeping the economy running during this crisis.
“These kind of benchmark policies and benefits are what can be achieved through continuous engagement and partnership between a modern trade union and a progressive employer.”
Steve Collinson, Head of the People Team at Zurich UK said:
“I am very proud of Zurich’s response to the Covid-19 situation and the support we have been able to give our employees. This new benefit is specific to the Covid-19 situation and has been provided to employees as part of the Zurich Group as a Global employer.
“Thanks to everyone at Community for the unstinting support of members. I know how much it is valued as is our partnership”
