Today, we’re thanking Middlesbrough Football Club.
Players and fans are publicly backing the Save Our Steel campaign to keep steel making on Teesside at the club’s match against Leeds United at the Riverside Stadium today (Sunday).
Roy Rickhuss, General Secretary of Community, said:
“Getting the backing from both players and fans shows how much steel making is at the heart of Teesside. We want to thank them for their support. They know what the industry means to their community and just how important it is to continue the campaign. The message to government is loud and clear to step in and ensure that steel has a future on Teesside. Everyone is united in our plea to save our steel.”
Middlesbrough players will be wearing Save our Steel t-shirts during their warm-up and fans will unveil a giant Save our Steel banner during the match which kicks off at 1.15pm.
