Learning in England

Communitas uses England’s Union Learn Fund (ULF) to support workers in England. You can learn more about this below.

How we do it…

The Union Learning  Fund (ULF) is funded by the Department for Education and administered though Unionlearn.  The main focus of Community’s learning & skills strategy is to widen access amongst those who have had little opportunity to engage in learning due to many and varied barriers and to enable members to gain transferable skills and increase their employability prospects as manufacturing declines. The ULF project aims to transform the lives of Community members though learning.

The project priority areas are:

  • Improving equality and tackling those most disadvantaged in the labour market.
  • Supporting high quality apprenticeships and traineeships in the workplace.
  • Helping individuals to improve their ICT, Maths and English functional skills.
  • Developing learning infrastructure to support workplace development.
  • Provide redundancy support with our comprehensive step by step “walk through” guide at workplaces to Community members, their families and the wider community.
  • Enrol onto union funded Maths and English courses from basic assessments to Entry Level 1 and GCSE Level and above via Wranx.
  • Access to a wide range of union paid courses such as Health and Safety, IT & Project Management, Compliance and many more via Litmos Heroes.
