Whilst the world of work continues to change, Community’s Justice Sector Committee comes together every quarter to discuss key issues and what the union can do to improve the working lives of its members.
At this week’s meeting many topics were discussed, ranging from how local campaigns can be expanded upon, to the success and further plans of the national ‘Safer Justice Sector’ campaign.
Speaking after the meeting, Committee Chair Carl Roberts said “Having been involved from the beginning of Community’s work in the justice sector, I can really see the difference that we are now making to our members across justice, custodial and immigration services.
“These meetings are the vehicle that create practical change for our members, and the working relationships we have fostered with employers ensures that we have a platform to raise issues”.
Community’s National Officer for Justice, Adrian Axtell, said “With lots of changes in government, these meetings are more important than ever. We need to ensure the relationships we have developed within the sector continue continue in the best interests of our members, and our Justice Committee have already proved with previous campaign work that they are up to the task”.
Community is the leading union in justice, custodial and immigration services in the UK.
