A Community member in the justice & custodial sector who had been a long-standing employee recently contacted the Member Service Centre for support with an appeal after being dismissed from work.
Working closely with Jason*, the Service Centre were able to appeal the decision to dismiss, showing the employer the unfairness of the process.
From an unfair investigation to not responding to the member’s concerns, the Member Service Centre were able to identify various flaws in the procedure, potentially preventing the same mistakes from repeating themselves in the future.
Following the appeal, the company reinstated Jason and paid him for the time in which he was temporarily dismissed.
After hearing the outcome, Jason said “Just to let you know I’ve won my appeal and will get pay backdated. I’m back at work next Monday. Thank you so much for your advice and time.”
