Community recently awarded a donation from its regional charity fund to pay for new football shirts for a local youth football team.
Royston Town Youth under 11’s has over 40 players spread across 4 teams. The kids football club aims to provide football and inspiration for all players of all abilities in a fun environment, developing players to the best they can be.
Martyn made an application to his local regional team and was successful, meaning the team will receive much needed funding.
Speaking after the cheque presentation, Community member Martyn Lees said “From everyone at Royston Town Youth under 11’s I would like to say a big thanks to everyone at Community for this amazing gesture and especially to Kate Allan & Chris Rice for helping to make it happen. This generous donation will allow us to purchase new training tops for the season.”
Each year, Community makes dozens of small donations to different local causes. Over the years the union has backed a diverse range of applications including supporting members to participate in fundraising marathons, helping community centres raise funds for refurbishment and providing sponsorship for kids football or other sports clubs.
